Karen Nestvold

Voice, Group Classes

Karen Nestvold loves to work with singers of all ages, nurturing her students’ healthy vocal technique in a variety of different musical styles. Karen began singing in choirs in elementary school, eventually “graduating” to parts in musicals and opera, in college and beyond. She earned her M.M. degree in Vocal Performance at Boston University, where she studied with famed soprano Phyllis Curtin. She has served on the faculty of the Boston University Tanglewood Institute and the Garden State Academy of Music. Among her most memorable performing experiences was her duet recital in a woman’s prison in New Jersey, as part of the “Music for All Seasons” organization. Other favorite roles: Mimi in “La Bohème,” Eurydice in “Orpheus in the Underworld,” and almost anything by Mozart or Stephen Sondheim. Karen works with her students to help them discover their own, unique voice, and to use it freely and confidently.
