Diana Wigington

Piano, Cello

​

Diana is a longtime member of both Cascade Symphony conducted by Michael Miropolsky and the Mahler Festival conducted by Tigran Arakelyan.  She is a graduate of Vanderbilt University, Peabody College for Teachers with a B.S. in music and early childhood education.  Diana studied cello at Blair Academy in Nashville with David Vanderkooi, and more recent teachers include Kristi Bjarnason and Rajan Krishnaswami of Seattle.  She’s a firm believer in positive early childhood educational experiences creating confidence and success in all facets of life.

 

While a cellist with Cascade Symphony for over 30 years, Diana has also provided private cello instruction as well as beginning piano to ages ranging from preschool to adult.  She is a former director of Northwest Hospital Childcare Center where she incorporated music into the curriculum, reinforcing that any age can appreciate the joy of music.

 

Over the years Diana has hosted international students from around the world – Japan, China, Taiwan, Ukraine, Denmark, Spain, France, Columbia, Indonesia, South Africa, Syria – and has found the universal language of music brings us together in beautiful harmony.
